I introduced Promisetown Tales to the world on October 6, 2000.  That day, at the Lambda Literary Festival in Philadelphia, I wore a clever billboard tee-shirt, handed out fliers,  gave out my business cards, and distributed hard copies of the manuscript to many, many potential readers and publishers.  Like so many brilliant ideas, it was all but ignored.

The concept was -- and continues to be  -- the creation of a "live," continuing on-line novel that would slowly tell its story over time.  This story, Promisetown Tales, follows the lives of a straight woman, an endearing male hustler, and an aging drag queen all who are living in the imaginary land of Promisetown.

  • To accommodate the needs of the busy web readers, Promisetown Tales is presented regularly in small "bits," rather than chapters.
  • Each bit ends with the first line, or a portion of the first line, of next bit.
